Malt of the month

As the first expression in the new Master of Wood series, The GlenAllachie 17-year-old Mizunara & Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish has earned its spot as our Malt of the Month.

Matured in rare Mizunara oak barrels and rich Oloroso Sherry casks, the complex blend of sweet spice and Sherry nuttiness has us eager to see what else the Master of Wood series has in store. We were lucky enough to sample a dram at the distillery on the day of the release – it is every bit as good as the tasting notes!

Colour

Intense Mahogany.

Nose

Heather honey, dried orange peel and crystalised ginger, with notes of cocoa, toasted tobacco leaves and fresh vanilla pods.

Palete

Baking spices, dried blood orange and grilled honeycomb, followed by bursts of rich cocoa, poached cinnamon apples and fig syrup, with pecans and demerara sugar.

Finish

Long, warming spice notes linger, with a nutty and oaky aftertaste.
